Club Mark Sewerby Cricket Club has now successfully achieved the National ECB Qualification "Club Mark". David Byas makes Club Mark Presentation at Sewerby C. C. Only 21 Clubs in the whole of Yorkshire have qualified for Club Mark so far and in our area. Sewerby now joins Hornsea, Beverley, Goole and Stamford Bridge. Having already attained both ERCAS Levels 1 & 2, the Club has now pushed on to achieve the ECB nationally-recognised Club Mark status. As an overall objective, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has
developed a strategic plan to encourage young people to play cricket.
This National Authority has asked the 38 County Cricket Boards to identify
Focus Clubs, of which Sewerby is one. Focus Clubs are expected to: Much effort and commitment have been needed to achieve the Club Mark award and Sewerby now possesses all the criteria necessary to fulfil Focus Club status. The Club already boasted two Level 2 Coaches and three at Level 1 but recently, five more club members qualified as Cricket Coaches under the new Coaching Award Scheme. On Wed 22nd June (from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.) the Club will host a junior
schools Kwik Cricket competition, the winners of which may progress eventually
through area competitions to national finals. The Club is always on the lookout for new members at all levels. Junior
and senior players together with non-players who may wish to support the

Scheme. We are the first cricket club in the East Riding to achieve this
distinction. It means that we are a well-organised club with a child friendly
approach and that the ERYC is pleased to recommend Sewerby CC as having
good, safe coaching facilities especially for junior cricketers. pic coming soon....... Child Welfare Issues Already, at the AGM of the Club, Michael J Griffiths has been appointed as Child Welfare Officer and he will be attending training sessions before the season starts. As the season progresses, other aspects of the policy will gradually be introduced. All coaches possess Yorkshire Cricket Board Coaching Certificates and either have already achieved Criminal Records Bureau Clearance Certificates or are in the process of applying for them. Other Club Members involved with Juniors will be asked to complete a Self Declaration Form. Club Changing Policy 1. Adults should try to change and shower at separate times to young
players.
Clothing All players under the age of 18 years must wear helmets when batting and when standing up to the stumps when wicket keeping. In the interests of hygiene, all players are expected to provide their own abdominal protector (cricketer’s box). Blue Club Cricket caps (adjustable size, modern style) are available from Rob Coates. Please be assured that Sewerby C. C. is endeavouring to implement the
guide lines issued by the Yorkshire Cricket Board in respect of Child
